Kim Sungjin (32) has been indicted and detained by prosecutors for fatally stabbing a woman in her 60s at a mart in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.
On May 19, the Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Junho) announced that Kim Sungjin (32) had been indicted and detained on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Kim is accused of killing a woman, whom he did not know, with a kitchen knife at a mart in Mia-dong on April 22, and of stopping his attack after the victim pleaded for her life, resulting in an attempted murder charge.
A prosecution official stated, "The defendant committed a murder with an abnormal motive, causing both the victims and their families to suffer physical and psychological pain."
