Lee Jae-myung: "North Built Barriers at DMZ, Certain of Martial Law... Peace Means Prosperity"

"Yoon, Disgraceful and Petty"

Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the state of emergency on the 19th, stating, "North Korea has severed bridges and roads along the demilitarized zone and built barriers," and added, "Isn't it because they are concerned that tanks might advance from the South?"

At Yongsan Station Plaza in Seoul on this day, Lee said, "I thought, these people are about to cause a major incident. Since there is no justification for martial law, they are trying to provoke North Korea into a clash and then stage a military coup. I am convinced of this." He continued, "From my perspective, they provoked North Korea for a very long time, but North Korea noticed and endured it well."

Lee remarked, "We live in a world where we have to worry about the possibility of war," and questioned, "Who is responsible? During the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the security situation has deteriorated significantly." He went on to say, "In our country, peace is directly tied to prosperity. If the future is uncertain, the economy cannot thrive."

Lee also stated, "The moment we become a leader, we must consider the whole," and criticized, "What have they done over the past three years? They have divided people into factions and incited them to fight each other. They even tried to destroy their opponents completely." He continued, "Let us not act disgracefully, pettily, or childishly. Life is short, and five years is even shorter. There is a mountain of work to do, and we are busy enough as it is."
