YGPA Signs Wage and Collective Agreements with National Security and Disaster Prevention Labor Union

Working-level and Main Negotiations Since June Last Year
Final Agreement Reached

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA, Acting President Hwang Hakbeom) announced on May 19 that it had signed the 2025 wage agreement and collective agreement with the National Security and Disaster Prevention Labor Union on May 16.

In October 2023, the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Security Police Branch of the National Security and Disaster Prevention Labor Union under the Federation of Korean Trade Unions' National Public Sector Labor Union Federation was established. Following the decision by the Jeonnam Regional Labor Relations Commission in March 2024 to separate bargaining units, negotiations began in April 2024 in response to the collective bargaining request from the National Security and Disaster Prevention Labor Union.

After about a year of working-level and main negotiations, which began with the first meeting in June 2023, the parties reached a final agreement.

Hwang Hakbeom, Acting President, stated, "This agreement is significant as it marks the first achievement reached through ongoing dialogue and compromise between labor and management. This negotiation should serve as a foundation for mutual growth, and we must continue to work together to resolve issues based on trust between labor and management."

Meanwhile, in addition to the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Security Police Branch of the National Security and Disaster Prevention Labor Union, the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Labor Union has also been established, and multiple unions are currently operating. The authority has achieved 13 consecutive years without labor disputes and has been certified as an excellent labor-management relations organization for three consecutive years.
