On May 18, Kang Gijung, Mayor of Gwangju, rang the Bell of Democracy at the Democracy Pavilion in the May 18 Democracy Square to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement. He was joined by Shin Sujeong, Chair of the Gwangju City Council, Lee Jeongseon, Superintendent of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, Yang Bunam, Chair of the Gwangju branch of the Democratic Party of Korea, as well as leaders of May 18-related organizations and institutions.
