How Will the 2025 Gapyeong Jarasum Spring Flower Festa Be Held?
A Spectacular Feast of Flowers Unfolds Across 110,000 Square Meters of Jarasum Island
Selected as a Gyeonggi Signature Tourism Festival for Three Consecutive Years... Held from May 24 to June 15
At the end of May, Jarasum Island in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, is transformed by a sea of flowers. The 'Jaraseom Flower Festa,' one of Gyeonggi Province's signature tourism festivals, will be held from May 24 to June 15 on the southern part of Jarasum Island in Gapyeong County.
According to Gapyeong County on May 19, the county is accelerating preparations to welcome visitors by creating a large-scale garden decorated with spring flowers such as poppies and canola, offering transportation and tourist site-linked benefits, and preparing various experiences and performances. In particular, this year, the festival content and convenience facilities have been significantly improved to provide visitors to Jarasum Island with an even richer and more impressive spring experience.
Selected as a 'Gyeonggi Signature Tourism Festival' for the third consecutive year, this year's festival is themed 'Communication and Harmony, Connecting Nature and People with Flowers.' The 110,000-square-meter festival site will showcase a vibrant garden landscape featuring a variety of spring flowers, including poppies, canola, petunias, sunflowers, and cornflowers. The flower festival grounds are open for entry from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with exit allowed until 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for Gapyeong residents and children aged 5 and under. Tourists from outside the county pay an entrance fee of 7,000 won, but receive a 5,000-won Gapyeong Love Gift Certificate at the venue.
This year, transportation convenience and tourism-linked benefits have been further expanded compared to last year. Electric vehicles will operate along the route from Gapyeong Rail Bike to the Jarasum entrance and the southern entrance. In addition, a ferry will run between Jarasum and Nami Island, and a sightseeing cruise will operate along the Bukhangang River Millennium Waterway, connecting Jarasum, Nami Island, and Gapyeong Marina.
Visitors with a Jaraseom Flower Festa admission ticket can also receive discounts at major tourist attractions in the area. Key discounted destinations include Petite France, Italian Village, Gapyeong Rail Bike, Bridge Zipline, Sheep Ranch, Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park, Begonia New Garden, Mystery Zoo, Aqua Garden Cafe, Gapyeong Cruise, Dream Land, The Garden of Morning Calm, The Garden of Morning Calm Family Zoo, and Jade Garden. Local restaurants and cafes also provide discounts or complimentary services to ticket holders.
This year's festival features distinct differences in the composition of the flower gardens and content compared to last year. Themed gardens include the 'Rainbow Garden' featuring Gapyeong County mascots Gatpyeongi and Songsongi, the 'Garden of Friendship' honoring the nations that participated in the Battle of Gapyeong, and other themed gardens composed of hydrangeas and poppies. Additionally, photo zones will be set up throughout the gardens, attracting visitors to capture memorable moments.
During the festival, Gapyeong County ambassadors and local artists will perform band concerts and busking. Experience programs such as costume (hanbok and school uniform) and flower crown rentals, balloon art, and multicultural food-making will also be available. On Jungdo Island, the 'Baro Market,' a direct sales market for agricultural products produced in Gapyeong County, will be held, allowing visitors to purchase high-quality local produce at reasonable prices.
Gapyeong County Governor Seo Taewon said, "The Jaraseom Flower Festa has established itself as a Gyeonggi Signature Tourism Festival for three consecutive years, and Jarasum Island has become a nationally renowned destination, being selected as one of Korea's Top 100 Tourist Attractions. We are preparing a spring flower festival with differentiated content and enhanced convenience so that visitors can create warm spring memories."
