Yeongju City to Host Character Academy Featuring Jung Eunpyo and Kim Hayan

"There May Be No Perfect Day,
But There Can Be a Happy One"

It is okay not to be perfect. Happiness can blossom even in moments of imperfection.

On May 22 at 2:00 p.m., Yeongju City will host the "May Yeongju Character Academy" at the Yeongju Citizens’ Hall, inviting actor Jung Eunpyo and his wife Kim Hayan as guest speakers. In celebration of Family Month, this event offers citizens an opportunity to reflect once again on the meaning of family.

The theme of the lecture is "Imperfect Us Dreaming of a Perfect Day." True to its name, the couple will share their honest life stories, showing how they have embraced each other despite not being perfect. Actor Jung Eunpyo, who has played numerous roles on stage, is especially remembered by the public for his portrayal of the court eunuch Hyungseon in the drama "Moon Embracing the Sun." He also appeared with his son Jung Jiwoong on the variety show "Bungeoppang," where he showed a more personal side. When Jung Jiwoong was accepted to Seoul National University through the regular admissions process in 2022, it drew attention to the importance of "communicative education."

Jung Eunpyo and Kim Hayan recently co-authored and published an essay titled "Imperfect Us Dreaming of a Perfect Day," which chronicles their journey of family and parenting. Through broadcasts and lectures, they have gained empathy by sincerely sharing practical tips for a harmonious home and their experiences in raising children.

Before the lecture, local artist and magician Kim Myungseok will greet citizens with a pre-show magic performance. No prior registration is required, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis for all citizens. Those interested in attending the lecture are advised to arrive a bit early to secure a seat.

Kim Hojung, Director of Yeongju City Seonbi Talent Development Center, stated, "I hope this Character Academy will be an opportunity to reflect on the importance of family and to rediscover the value of small happiness in everyday life," adding, "We will continue to expand humanities education programs that enhance the quality of life for our citizens."

Yeongju City will host a total of four "Family Academy - Couple and Parent Education" lectures in May and June. The lineup includes counseling psychologist Professor Lee Hosun (May 27), psychiatrist Dr. Kim Byunghoo (May 31), emotional coaching expert Dr. Choi Seongae (June 24), and parent education specialist Director Lim Youngjoo (June 28). Each lecture will be held at 2:00 p.m. at 148 Art Square, and is free for up to 120 pre-registered participants.

Additionally, on June 13, an "Character Concert" will be held at the Yeongju Culture and Arts Center, featuring conductor and former comedian Kim Hyuncheol along with an eight-member ensemble. This unique stage, blending witty talk and warm classical melodies, is expected to provide citizens with another moving experience.
