Park Jiwon Predicts Lee Jae Myung to Win 60%, Kim Moonsoo 30% of Votes

"If Lee Junseok Receives 10% of the Vote, It Will Be a Great Success"

Park Jiwon, co-chairman of the Democratic Party's Central Election Countermeasures Committee, predicted the vote shares for each presidential candidate as follows: Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party at 60%, Kim Moonsoo of the People Power Party at 30%, and Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party at 10%.

On the 19th, appearing on SBS Radio's 'Kim Taehyun's Political Show,' Park made these predictions, stating, "About 55% of the public wants a change of government, but as they see Kim Moonsoo and other main actors of the People Power Party's rebellion acting without remorse, even moderate voters are shifting to us." He continued, "About 35% of the public wants to maintain the current administration, but that figure will drop to around 30%. If Lee Junseok receives a vote share close to 10%, it will be a great success for him."

Regarding Lee Jae Myung's campaign pledges, Park said, "The four-year consecutive presidential term and the transfer of the Board of Audit and Inspection to the National Assembly are both very good ideas." He added, "Regardless of who becomes president, if the person elected discusses constitutional amendment and achieves it in the National Assembly during their term, it will be considered a success." He further stated, "If Lee Jae Myung becomes president and carries out constitutional reform, it will open the door wide to the future of the Seventh Republic."

Regarding former President Yoon Suk Yeol's departure from the People Power Party, Park criticized, "Leaving the party or not, he remains the same person," and added, "What is the point of leaving the party without a word of apology to the people?" He continued, "Kim Moonsoo must also take responsibility," and added, "Unless former President Yoon is isolated from society, the country will not be at ease."

Park also addressed Kim Moonsoo, saying, "What needs to be settled must be settled. He needs to take the stance of 'I will break with the forces of rebellion and move toward the future, so I ask for the people's support.' But who would be deceived if he continues to defend former President Yoon while talking about the spirit of the 5·18 Democratization Movement? Our people may have been deceived once, but they will not be deceived twice."

Regarding the speculation about appointing Hong Joonpyo as prime minister in a Lee Jae Myung administration, Park said, "It would be better for both sides not to do that." He added, "Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joonpyo and I are personally close and have had many conversations, but it is a combination the public would not accept. However, if former Mayor Hong makes significant contributions, he could be considered as a potential candidate."

Previously, Lee Jae Myung had announced his vision for constitutional amendment centered on introducing a four-year consecutive presidential term. On the previous day, through his Facebook page, he stated, "If the introduction of a four-year consecutive presidential term allows for a mid-term evaluation of the administration, it will strengthen accountability." He continued, "In addition, introducing a presidential runoff system will secure democratic legitimacy and minimize unnecessary social conflict." Regarding the Board of Audit and Inspection, he said, "It should not give rise to concerns of being an 'agency supporting the president.' It must faithfully fulfill its role as a strict overseer," and added, "It should be transferred to the National Assembly to ensure its independence. At the same time, maintaining independence from the majority party in the National Assembly is also important."
