On May 19, KCC announced that it had completed environmental improvement work at Heunmasil, a residential facility for people with intellectual disabilities located in Jinan County, Jeonbuk.

This project was carried out in collaboration with officials from the Future Environment Association and Heunmasil. KCC applied functional Cool Roof coatings and Color Universal Design both inside and outside the building, creating a comfortable and safe living environment.

For the exterior, ahead of the summer season when the heat begins in earnest, KCC carried out Cool Roof construction by applying the heat-reflective paint "Spotan Sangdo (Energy)" to the roof, along with painting the building's exterior walls. This is expected to reduce the temperature of both the roof surface and the interior by reflecting solar heat, thereby achieving energy savings.

The Color Universal Design applied to the interior was designed to provide accurate information to everyone, including people with color vision deficiency, the elderly, and people with disabilities, by utilizing color combinations and brightness contrasts that are easy to distinguish.

KCC plans to continue working with the Future Environment Association on environmental improvement projects that contribute to the development of local communities. The company intends to actively utilize Color Universal Design and other approaches focused on residential environments, such as paint and building materials, to expand consideration for socially disadvantaged groups and realize greater social value.

A KCC official said, "We plan to continue expanding improvement activities for various public welfare facilities and safety infrastructure in local communities, such as senior centers, daycare centers, bus stops, and speed control facilities."
