Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is introducing a variety of eco-tourism experience programs at major urban parks.

This round of experience programs will take place at the city's key eco-tourism sites: Hojobeol and Lotus Theme Park, Gaetgol Ecological Park, and Mulwang Lake.

At Hojobeol and Lotus Theme Park, "Ecological Experience" and "Rice Field Culture Experience" programs will be held 10 times from May 24 through September. These inquiry-based programs are designed for families with children aged 6 to 10 and include activities such as observing organisms in dumbeong (traditional irrigation ponds), insect collecting, birdwatching, experiencing apple snail farming methods and agricultural tools, and trying pungnyeonga sogo (traditional drum) performances. Participants will be able to explore the 300-year-old Hojobeol and its rice paddy wetlands. Those interested can apply in advance by searching for "Hojobeol Ecological Experience" on Naver Smart Store.

In August, the "Firefly Night Walk" experience program will be held around Mulwang Lake. The program includes activities such as painting with glow-in-the-dark paint, making LED lamps, and watching shadow play videos. Starting in September, the city will also launch the "Mulwang Lake Runcation (Run+Vacation)," which combines running and tourism. The event will feature running mission events and cultural performances.

At Gaetgol Ecological Park, the "Sunset Yoga" program will be offered from September to October. Through a variety of yoga genres including Vinyasa, Inside Flow, and Hatha Yoga, the program aims to provide citizens with time to restore both body and mind. Applications will be accepted in advance from August via Naver Smart Store, and on-site registration will also be available on the day of the event.

Lim Byeongtaek, Mayor of Siheung, said, "We have prepared a diverse range of hands-on content so that citizens and tourists can directly participate in Siheung's ecological environment and experience rest and enjoyment," adding, "We will continue to focus on developing and promoting content so that Siheung can establish itself as the most attractive eco-tourism destination in the Seoul metropolitan area."
