DGIST President Lee Gunwoo: "We Will Offer Solutions to Population Issues Through Science and Technology"...Relay Campaign

DGIST (President Lee Gunwoo) joined the "Population Issue Awareness Improvement Relay Campaign" on May 19, contributing to raising social awareness about the issues of low birth rates and an aging population.


This campaign, co-hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Health and Welfare, is a relay-style participatory campaign that began in October of last year. It was organized to enhance public awareness of rapidly changing population structures and to expand social consensus for responding to low birth rates and an aging society.

President Lee Gunwoo, who participated in the campaign after being nominated by Choi Jaehoon, Mayor of Dalseong County in Daegu, nominated Kang Eunhee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, and Park Yunkyung, President of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the next participants. He expressed his support for spreading awareness and practical actions regarding population issues.


President Lee emphasized, "DGIST must contribute to solving the complex problems faced by society through science and technology," and added, "The population issue is not merely a statistical change, but an important challenge directly linked to our quality of life and a sustainable future."


He continued, "As an educational institution, we will help create an environment where future generations can grow up stably, and together with the local community, we will continue efforts to address low birth rates and an aging population."


Meanwhile, DGIST plans to continue presenting science and technology-based solutions to various social challenges such as population, environment, and regional imbalance, and to strengthen its role as an innovative educational and research institution contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.
