Hanwha Space Hub, which oversees Hanwha Group's space business, announced on May 19 that it is recruiting participants for the fourth cohort of the "Pebbles of the Universe" program until June 13.

Hanwha Space Hub is a space business consultative body involving Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Aerospace, and Hanwha Systems. Pebbles of the Universe is a space talent development program for middle school students, jointly operated by Hanwha Space Hub and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

"Explore Beyond the Solar System"... Hanwha Recruiting for 4th Cohort of "Pebbles of the Universe"

The fourth cohort of Pebbles of the Universe will be held under the theme of exploration beyond the solar system. The program will recruit 30 participants, and any first- or second-year middle school student interested in space may apply. Applicants will be selected through a two-stage process: first, a review of a Mars exploration research proposal in essay format written by the applicant, and second, an interview. Applications must be submitted through the program's official website.

The final 30 students selected for the fourth cohort will attend basic science theory and space humanities lectures at KAIST for six months starting in July, and will participate in an "experiential space mission project" with faculty from the Department of Aerospace Engineering as well as master's and doctoral mentors. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion from the KAIST president, opportunities to attend gifted education programs, and overseas exploration benefits.

Hanwha Space Hub stated, "Pebbles of the Universe is an educational model that provides young people with the opportunity to dream about and plan their future in space, and is also a strategic investment by Hanwha to lay the foundation for attracting space talent in the long term. We encourage students who possess boundless imagination about space and believe in their own potential not to hesitate and to apply."
