"MZ Public Officials Take the Lead"... Ministry of SMEs and Startups Launches 4th Government Innovation Avengers

Aiming to Innovate Organizational Culture in the Public Sector

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on May 19 that it has formed the fourth cohort of the Government Innovation Avengers, focusing on new public officials, in order to drive organizational culture innovation within the public sector.

Since its launch in 2022, the Avengers of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups have carried out various activities, including field visits to innovative venture companies and small and medium-sized enterprises in the root industry that have adopted smart manufacturing processes, as well as networking with other organizations. Through these efforts, the program has prioritized "strengthening on-site communication," enabling young new public officials who will lead the ministry to better understand policy targets and directly hear the voices from the field.

The newly launched fourth cohort of the Avengers consists of a total of 30 members, selected with consideration for diversity in gender, rank, entry pathway, and work area. The group will be divided into three divisions (six teams): organizational culture, work methods, and public perception, and will carry out activities accordingly.

The inauguration ceremony was held on this day in collaboration with "Wingwing," the representative company selected for the Glocal Commercial District Creation Team in April. Participants toured the glocal commercial district site located in the old downtown of Daejeon and discussed directions for revitalizing local commercial areas through the integration of diverse spaces and content. Afterwards, each of the six teams presented their plans for innovation activities to be promoted throughout the year and shared their aspirations as members of the Innovation Avengers.

Kim Sungseob, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "Thanks to the Avengers and various government innovation activities, I feel that the public sector is becoming increasingly flexible. I hope that efforts to innovate within the organization and improve work methods will come together to bring about changes in the policy field that the public can truly feel."
