Held at Gangnam Branch Open Stage until the 29th
Hawaii Theme Inspired by Disney Movie Setting
Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 19th that it will be holding the 'Lilo & Stitch Ohana Popup Store' in partnership with The Walt Disney Company Korea at the Open Stage on the first floor of its Gangnam branch until the 29th.
Lilo & Stitch is a feature-length character animation by Disney that was first released in 2002. Shinsegae Department Store will unveil a large-scale popup store on the 21st to coincide with the release date of the new film.
The popup store is designed with a Hawaii concept, reflecting the setting of the movie, and creates a lively space that feels as if visitors have stepped into a scene from the film. The popup recreates the beach and sandy shore, where the main characters?Lilo, a human girl, and Stitch, an extraterrestrial being?embark on adventures together. It also offers a wide variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy.
Upon entering the event venue, visitors are greeted by a Stitch character enjoying surfing. On both sides of the entrance, the 'Stamp Rally Mission', an interactive event, is set up so that families, couples, friends, and acquaintances can all participate together. Customers who collect stamps by joining various activities such as beach volleyball, surfing boards, letter blocks, and memory games will receive one type of Stitch sticker, a coloring book, and a Stitch emoticon coupon as gifts.
A wide variety of merchandise featuring the Stitch character is also available for purchase. After passing through the experience event area, there is a large photo wall with a character backdrop for instant photos, as well as a goods shop. Visitors can browse more than 200 different types of character merchandise.
The merchandise for sale features the Stitch character in a variety of designs that incorporate the Hawaiian atmosphere from the movie's setting. Highlighted items include the Disney Stitch Metal Keyring for 14,000 won, the Disney Stitch LED Mood Light for 27,900 won, the Scrump Moving Keyring for 20,000 won, and the Stitch Backpack Blue for 80,000 won.
On the first day of the event, May 16, dozens of people lined up before the popup store even opened, resulting in an "open run." Over the weekend, a diverse range of customers?including families with children and character enthusiasts?visited Shinsegae Gangnam Branch to experience the popup store.
Heo Je, head of art business at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "Shinsegae Department Store is focusing its capabilities on expanding the shopping experience for our customers," adding, "As Shinsegae evolves beyond a department store into a content creator, we will continue to expand our differentiated content through various collaborations in the future."
