K-POP, Food Shows, and Flea Markets
An Urban Festival for All Generations
Gangnam-gu, Seoul will host the ‘G-KPOP Concert’ at Hangang Park Sinsa Jamwon District from May 24 to 25, and the ‘Garosu-gil Design Week’ throughout the Sinsa-dong area from May 24 to 28. This year, the two events will be held simultaneously, taking advantage of their proximity. From K-POP performances and star chef food shows to busking, over 100 flea market booths, and a sale festival, a wide range of content will fill Gangnam with excitement throughout May.
G-KPOP Concert: Outdoor Music Festival on the Han River
The G-KPOP Concert will take place for free from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 24 and 25 at Hangang Park Sinsa Jamwon District. On May 24, STAYC, Dreamcatcher, Nerd Connection, Hwang Garam, Rocky, and Yoon Soo-il will perform. On May 25, Kim Taewoo, Lee Jaehoon (Cool), Jinusean, Park Mikyung, Space A, Lee Jayoun, and Park Hyunbin will take the stage, with a total of 13 teams performing over the two days.
The concert is designed as a music picnic that families of all ages can enjoy together. Side events will include a fireworks display after the performances, a picnic zone, and a daytime busking performance on May 25. Admission wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the on-site ticket booth starting at 11:00 a.m. each day.
Garosu-gil Design Week with Star Chefs
Garosu-gil Design Week (May 24?28) will transform the Garosu-gil area of Sinsa-dong into a festival street under the theme of ‘G-KFOOD FESTIVAL.’ On the weekend of May 24 and 25, the car-free street will feature live cooking shows and lectures by star chefs Yoon Namno, Park Junwoo, Cho Kwanghyo, and Park Jiyoung, as well as busking performances by well-known artists such as Norazo, Ulala Session, and Minseo. There will also be over 100 flea market booths, food trucks, and experience zones.
Until May 28, the Garosu-gil Sale Festa will take place, with more than 100 stores offering a variety of discounts and promotions. During the festival, visitors can participate in prize events for items such as MacBook Airs, iPads, and dining gift certificates by presenting receipts from Garosu-gil shops or proof of participation on social networking services (SNS).
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Sungmyung stated, “These festivals, which represent Gangnam’s May, were held separately until last year, but this year, we decided to link them together to create a synergy effect, considering their proximity.” He added, “We will continue to discover unique cultural content exclusive to Gangnam, further enhancing the city’s status as a tourist destination where visitors can always find something new and exciting.”
