Attracting Around 60,000 Visitors to Geochang Changpowon
Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on May 19 that the 'Geochang On Spring Festival', held in the area around Geochang Changpowon, concluded successfully with enthusiastic support from both local residents and tourists.
This festival marked Geochang County's first integrated spring festival, combining five themed events: the 6th Arimia Flower Festival, the 6th Geochang Wild Ginseng Festival, the 2025 Meditation·Vegan Festival, the 2nd Geochang County National Drone Soccer Tournament, and the 2nd Barefoot Walking Event. Under the slogan "A Grand Spring Day in Geochang, Find Rest at Changpowon," the festival offered a wide range of engaging content.
During the festival period, approximately 60,000 visitors from across the country, regardless of age or gender, visited Geochang Changpowon. The festival featured a variety of healing programs, outdoor activities in pristine nature, cultural performances, and healthy food experiences, providing diverse content that appealed to all age groups and received positive feedback from attendees.
In particular, the wellness content focusing on wild ginseng, veganism, and meditation, combined with experiential programs such as flowers and gardens, drones, and barefoot walking, demonstrated the potential of Geochang's unique multi-faceted tourism festival, surpassing the limitations of previous festivals.
The county stated that the festival not only boosted the local economy through sales of regional agricultural products and increased revenue for small businesses, but also confirmed Geochang's potential to emerge as a leading spring tourist destination.
Gu Inmo, Mayor of Geochang County, said, "This was a successful festival created and enjoyed together by residents and tourists," adding, "We will continue to expand our cultural and tourism infrastructure and programs to establish Geochang as a tourist city with year-round appeal."
This festival is being recognized as a cooperative festival model, created through collaboration between Geochang County, local farms, and related organizations. The county plans to continue developing a sustainable regional tourism ecosystem by linking it with large-scale projects such as the 'Year of Visiting Geochang.'
Meanwhile, the KBS Open Concert, held on the festival's opening day, attracted an audience of about 9,500 people and was a great success. The stage, set against the beautiful natural scenery of Geochang Changpowon in full spring bloom, received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
