Lee Jaemyung: "Yellow Envelope Act Recognized by ILO... It Must Be Implemented" (Update)

Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 18th that the so-called Yellow Envelope Act is "something that must obviously be done."

During a debate hosted by the National Election Commission on this day, Lee said regarding the Yellow Envelope Act, "The Supreme Court precedent has already recognized it," and added, "I believe it is also recognized by the International Labour Organization, so it is only natural that it should be implemented."

Kim Moonsu, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, pointed out, "The Yellow Envelope Act does not conform to the Constitution or the Civil Code. If it is pushed through unreasonably, will it be possible to run businesses in our country?"

Candidate Kim also asked about the Semiconductor Special Act, which allows an exception to the 52-hour workweek for research positions in the semiconductor industry. In response, Lee said, "Extending the flexible work period from three months to six months is sufficient. If total working hours are not increased and all overtime pay is provided, the system is not better than the existing one, so wasn't it the government's position that such a change is unnecessary?"

Lee also commented on support measures for small business owners during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating, "Even if it means increasing national debt, the government should bear the cost of helping small business owners overcome the crisis."
