"Division Leads to Certain Defeat...
Han Donghoon Must Join the Election Committee"
On May 18, Yoon Sanghyun, a member of the People Power Party, called on former party leader Han Donghoon, former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo, and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joonpyo to "set aside past conflicts and go all out for victory in the presidential election."
At a press conference held at the National Assembly that day, Yoon stated, "The resignation of former President Yoon Sukyeol has deeply shaken the hearts of party members, and the atmosphere of division within the party has yet to be fully resolved. Division is a shortcut to certain defeat," he said, making his position clear.

Yoon emphasized, "Former President Yoon ultimately made a painful decision to save the party and lead us to victory in the presidential election," and added, "More important than evaluating that decision is that we must now take joint responsibility for the void that has been left."
He continued, "Let us set aside personal political interests, past grievances, and differences in judgment, and move forward in unity for the victory of candidate Kim Moonsoo. Do not avoid responsibility, and do not hesitate to play your role," he urged.
He went on to say, "It is more important to consider what we are coming together to protect, rather than who is at the center. What is needed now is to find a path to unity to defend liberal democracy and the rule of law, even if it is under the banner of a 'Ban-Myung Constitutional Amendment Alliance' or a 'National Unity Joint Front.'"
Regarding former party leader Han, Yoon said, "First and foremost, he must join the election committee," and added, "He has been accepting membership applications during live broadcasts, but he should act not for himself, but for the party and for the Republic of Korea's system."
On the issue of whether the party's stance against impeachment?a condition for Han's joining the election committee?would change, Yoon explained, "It cannot be changed, as it is the party's official position to oppose impeachment. This is not about impeaching Yoon Sukyeol as an individual; it could become an impeachment of our future and our children. The party's anti-impeachment stance will never change," he clarified.
