Participation from 35 Historical and Cultural Sites Including Embassies
The Jeongdong Night Tour, a nighttime historical and cultural festival that can be enjoyed for only two days and twelve hours each year, will be held in the Jeongdong area of Jung-gu, Seoul. This year's event will take place on Friday, May 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Saturday, May 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Under the theme "The Light of Jeongdong, Embroidering the Future," the festival offers a special journey through time, allowing visitors to experience the history and culture of modern Seoul beneath the night sky.

The Jeongdong Night Tour is more than just a nighttime opening event. Along the Deoksugung Stone Wall Road, spaces where the spirit of Seoul's enlightenment era from 120 years ago still lingers will be open to the public. This year, 35 historical and cultural sites?including diplomatic missions such as the British and Canadian Embassies, which are usually closed to the public, as well as Paichai Academy, Ewha Academy, and Jeongdong First Methodist Church?will be open until 10:00 p.m.
The festival will begin with a royal palace concert in front of Junghwajeon Hall at Deoksugung. Other programs include a media facade at Paichai Academy History Museum, performances at religious sites, and embassy open tours. The "7 Nights Program," consisting of seven themes, will illuminate the nights of Jeongdong.
This year, in particular, media art, lighting productions, and citizen-participatory performances will be significantly expanded. The Deoksugung Stone Wall Road, a symbol of the Jeongdong Night Tour, will be transformed into a nightscape attraction with photo zones created in collaboration with the Euljiro Lighting District, a Cheongsachorong lantern street, and lantern-making experiences. Around 200 "Night Tour Guides," including residents from 15 neighborhoods in Jung-gu, a children's press corps, and local community members, will take center stage as key participants in the festival.
Kim Gilseong, mayor of Jung-gu, explained, "In Jeongdong, filled with the atmosphere of spring, a variety of venues will welcome citizens with light and future-themed features such as media facades," adding, "This festival is especially meaningful because community volunteer 'Night Tour Guides' are directly involved in everything from preparation to operation, making it a collaborative effort."
