A man in his 70s has been arrested for damaging a campaign banner for Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and injuring three police officers who responded to the scene.
On the 17th, the Jungnang Police Station in Seoul announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Mr. A on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and causing injury while obstructing the execution of official duties under special circumstances.
Mr. A is accused of damaging an election banner that had been installed on Ihwa Bridge in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, at around 9:08 a.m. on the 15th.
He is also accused of injuring three police officers who responded to the scene after receiving a 112 emergency call.
A police official stated, "We will take strict legal action against acts of damaging presidential election banners and posters."
