In Daegu, posters and promotional materials for Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, have been repeatedly vandalized, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to the Daegu Bukbu Police Station and the Daegu branch of the Democratic Party of Korea on May 17, at around 1:30 p.m. that day, police received a report that a campaign poster of candidate Lee, which had been put up in Chilseong-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, had been damaged.
At the time it was discovered, the face of candidate Lee on the poster had been torn with a sharp object.
At around 6:30 p.m. the previous day, a resident also found that a poster of candidate Lee Jaemyung, attached to an exterior wall in Namsan-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu, had been vandalized and reported it to the police.
The police are tracking the suspect using nearby closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and other means.
Previously, on May 15, two official promotional materials for candidate Lee, attached to a Democratic Party campaign vehicle in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, as well as a banner for candidate Lee installed at the Dongdaegu Station intersection in Dong-gu, were also vandalized.
