Kim Moonsoo Vows to Expand Support for Koryoin and Atomic Bomb Victims, Strengthen Overseas Koreans Agency

Establishing 'Day of Overseas Koreans' and Promoting 'Overseas Korean of the Year Award'
"Opening Doors of Opportunity for Compatriots... We Will Provide Support"

People Power Party presidential candidate Kim Moonsoo stated on the 17th, "We will strengthen tailored support with utmost sincerity for compatriots who carry the scars of history, such as Sakhalin Koreans, Koryoin, atomic bomb victims, and workers dispatched to Germany."

In his first televised address to overseas Koreans, aired on the KBS KOREA channel on this day, Kim said, "We will establish a strong connection linking the homeland and countries of residence so that seven million compatriots can join hands and move forward into the future together."


Kim explained, "It is the government's natural duty to open more doors of opportunity for our compatriots," and added, "Whenever and whatever is needed, the government should be able to reach out and provide help to compatriots."


He further emphasized, "Not only will we closely connect the network of seven million Koreans, but we will also greatly expand opportunities to share information and experiences with the homeland," and added, "We will further strengthen the role and functions of the Overseas Koreans Agency to provide proper assistance."


He also pledged to expand the global Korean network.


Kim said, "We will actively promote projects linking local governments with Korean communities abroad to create mutually beneficial cooperation systems tailored to the characteristics of each country of residence," and continued, "We will build overseas Korean networks by region, sector, and generation, and especially strengthen the next-generation compatriot network to increase global business and employment opportunities."


He also added that he would establish a 'Day of Overseas Koreans' and promote the presentation of an 'Overseas Korean of the Year Award.'


Kim stated, "The homeland, the Republic of Korea, now stands at a crossroads: whether to continue on the path of prosperity and advancement, or to falter and remain stagnant, unable to overcome a critical juncture in history," and added, "This presidential election is that turning point. Please cast your precious vote for Kim Moonsoo, who stands for fairness and integrity."
