Kyungpook National University Signs MOU with 15 Korean Education Centers in Japan to Attract Japanese Students

Kyungpook National University (President: Heo Youngwoo) announced on May 16 that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with all 15 Korean Education Centers in Japan at the Fukuoka Korean Education Center, establishing a cooperative system to attract Japanese international students.

The Korean Education Centers are overseas educational institutions under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea. They are responsible for educating overseas Koreans, providing Korean language and culture education, and promoting educational exchanges. In Japan, there are a total of 15 Korean Education Centers operating nationwide, including in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.

Among national universities in Korea, Kyungpook National University is the first to sign agreements with all 15 Korean Education Centers in Japan.

Through this agreement, Kyungpook National University plans to actively implement a special local admissions program (pre-admission) in Japan in cooperation with the Korean Education Centers in Japan.

In addition, Kyungpook National University will jointly operate internationalization programs such as short-term training for prospective Japanese international students, and will support Japanese students in understanding Korean culture and adapting to university life, thereby helping them make smoother decisions about studying in Korea.

Hak Lee, Acting Director of the Office of International Affairs at Kyungpook National University, stated, "Through this agreement, we will further strengthen Kyungpook National University's study abroad network in Japan and accelerate efforts to attract outstanding Japanese students by expanding the development of locally customized programs. Going forward, we will expand similar international cooperation models to other countries to enhance our global competitiveness."
