Yeosu City Named 'Excellent Institution' for 12 Consecutive Years in Government Joint Evaluation

Secured 151 Million Won in Project and Reward Funds

Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Kimyung) announced on May 16, 2025, that it has been selected as an excellent institution for the twelfth consecutive year in the 2025 Government Joint Evaluation (based on 2024 performance).

The Government Joint Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that covers state-delegated administrative tasks handled by local governments, projects subsidized by the national treasury, and major national policies. The evaluation is finalized after collective verification by private sector experts and a national evaluation panel.

The city achieved high performance across all sectors, including administration, economy, culture, welfare, environment, health, and agriculture and livestock, accomplishing 79 out of 82 quantitative evaluation indicators. In the qualitative evaluation category, 15 out of 16 indicators were selected as excellent cases by South Jeolla Province, and 2 cases were also recognized as excellent cases by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Through this evaluation, the city secured 130 million won in project funds and 21 million won in reward money. In preparation for the evaluation, the city managed performance for each indicator on a monthly basis and held countermeasure meetings to review and improve underperforming indicators.

Mayor Jung Kimyung stated, "Achieving outstanding results in the Government Joint Evaluation again this year is a meaningful accomplishment made possible by the dedicated efforts of our staff," and added, "We will continue to focus our administrative capabilities on providing public services that citizens can truly feel."
