The Buncheong Culture Museum in Goheung County (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on May 16 that it has been selected for the first time this year in the "2025 Humanities on the Road" public contest project, which is jointly conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea.
The "Humanities on the Road" public contest project is a program that supports libraries, museums, and other regional cultural infrastructure facilities in operating programs that combine lectures and field trips. The aim is to help local residents become more familiar with the value of the humanities by engaging with cultural facilities close to their daily lives.

This year, 779 institutions from across the country participated in the contest, resulting in fierce competition, and 500 of these institutions were selected as implementing organizations.
With this selection, the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum plans to offer a total of 13 humanities lectures (12 lectures and 1 field trip) under the tentative theme "Moonlight Humanities: Opening the Window of the Mind through Literature" from July to September. The lectures will be free of charge, and applications can be made through the official Goheung County website or the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum website.
The upcoming lectures will involve reading and discussing various literary works related to Goheung, including works by Nobel Prize-winning author Han Kang and poet Song Sugwon. Through this, the program aims to provide local residents with opportunities for humanities reflection and to offer a chance to revisit Goheung's history and identity through literary content.
A county official stated, "Being selected for the Humanities on the Road project is an important first step in promoting local culture," and added, "The museum will continue to plan and operate history and culture programs that engage with local residents."
Meanwhile, starting May 20, the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum will host the "2025 National Treasure Traveling Exhibition: A 180-Day Journey Together," featuring a traveling exhibition of Buncheong ware national treasures. This exhibition will provide a special opportunity to see national treasures that are usually difficult to encounter up close, such as the treasure 'Buncheong Ware Inlaid Lotus Vine Pattern Bottle.'
