A man in his 40s was apprehended by police after stealing valuables from several parked vehicles in downtown Gwangju during the early morning hours.
Gwangsan Police Station announced on the 16th that they are investigating Mr. A (in his 40s) on suspicion of theft.
Mr. A is accused of breaking the windows of seven parked vehicles in the Singa-dong area of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, in the early morning of May 13, and stealing cash and goods worth a total of 10 million won. In some cases, he reportedly found car keys inside the vehicles, drove them away himself, then abandoned the vehicles by the roadside before fleeing.
The police launched an investigation after receiving reports from the owners of the damaged vehicles and arrested Mr. A at a nearby accommodation facility.
During questioning, Mr. A stated that he committed the crimes to cover his living expenses. Considering that Mr. A does not have a fixed residence, the police have applied for an arrest warrant.
