According to Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province on the 16th, Jeongsook Shim, age 89, donated 10 million won in scholarships on the 15th to support the development of local talent.

Shim said, "I wanted to provide a small source of strength to young people who are pursuing their dreams despite difficult circumstances," and added, "I hope that the wealth I have accumulated throughout my life will help brighten the future of the region." She also expressed her intention to make additional donations in the future.

The donation ceremony, held in the mayor's office at Uijeongbu City Hall on the same day, was attended by Donggeun Kim, Mayor of Uijeongbu, Jinsu Kim, Chairman of the Uijeongbu Citizens Scholarship Foundation, and other officials, who expressed their gratitude.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "I sincerely thank Jeongsook Shim for her profound generosity. Her warm-heartedness will serve as an example to the community, and we will do our utmost to ensure that the donation is used transparently and meaningfully."

Meanwhile, the Uijeongbu Citizens Scholarship Foundation plans to carefully use this donation as scholarships for local youth.
