Paju City to Invest 1.9 Billion Won in Geumchon 2 Public Parking Lot Renovation
Temporary Closure from June... Reopening Planned for September
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 16 that it will invest a total of 1.9 billion won to launch a large-scale renovation project for the Geumchon 2 Public Parking Lot (Rodeo Street Steel Parking Lot).
The main goal of this project is to upgrade the aging facilities and comprehensively improve the environment so that citizens can use the parking lot more safely and conveniently.
To carry out the renovations, Paju City will temporarily close the Geumchon 2 Public Parking Lot for about three months starting in June, with plans to complete construction and reopen the facility in September. To minimize inconvenience during the construction period, the city will guide citizens to three nearby public parking lots that will serve as alternative parking locations.
The total project cost is 1.9 billion won, of which 1 billion won was secured through the 2024 Gyeonggi Province Special Adjustment Grant, while the remaining 900 million won was allocated through the city's second supplementary budget in 2025.
The main aspects of the renovation include strengthening maintenance to improve the safety of the steel structure, replacing the parking control system, and redesigning the previously narrow parking spaces to be more spacious. Through these measures, the city aims to widen the distance between vehicles and provide users with a more comfortable parking experience.
A Paju City official stated, "This project goes beyond simple repairs and aims to make tangible improvements to the user environment that citizens can truly feel. We will thoroughly manage the process to minimize inconvenience for citizens during construction and to ensure the project is completed safely within the scheduled timeline."
Meanwhile, starting with the renovation of the Geumchon 2 Public Parking Lot, Paju City plans to establish maintenance plans for other aging public parking lots in the city and implement improvements step by step each year.
