The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 16th that it will host the 2025 East Asia High School Earth Science Festival (ESF: Earth Science Festival) in collaboration with Chosun University and the Korean Earth Science Olympiad Committee.
The festival, which began with the opening ceremony the previous day, will be held for four days at the Gwangju Science Museum until the 18th. High school students who have been selected as preliminary national representatives in the field of earth science from three East Asian countries?Korea, Japan, and Taiwan?are participating to engage in exchange and learning activities.

The participating students will stay at the Byeolbit Nuri Hall, the residential science camp facility of the National Gwangju Science Museum, and take part in programs such as earth science classes, astronomical observation, and outdoor geological field trips. In addition, they will broaden their understanding of Korea through traditional cultural experiences and enhance their international communication skills by interacting with students from other countries.
Director Lee Junggu stated, "I hope this event will be more than just a competition, serving as a valuable opportunity for Asian youth to foster scientific creativity, develop inquiry skills, and build international friendships."
