Governor Kim Dongon of Cheongyang County Achieves Top 'SA Grade' in Manifesto Pledge Implementation Evaluation Kim Dongon, Cheongyang County Governor

Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province, led by Governor Kim Dongon, has proven both its commitment to fulfilling campaign pledges and its credibility among residents by earning the highest 'SA grade' in the evaluation of nationwide basic local government heads' pledge implementation for the 8th popularly elected term.

According to the county on May 16, Cheongyang County achieved a pledge implementation completion rate of 67.2% and a fiscal securing rate of 53.42% in the '2024 Nationwide Basic Local Government Heads' Pledge Implementation Evaluation' announced by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters on May 15. These figures surpass the national averages by 14.15 percentage points and 10.31 percentage points, respectively, demonstrating outstanding performance.

These results clearly show how thoroughly and systematically the county has approached pledge implementation.

During the 8th popularly elected term, the county has put forward a total of 60 pledges across five key areas, including agriculture, economy, and welfare, and has been consistently pursuing regionally tailored development policies.

Notably, following its achievement of the SA grade in last year's pledge implementation plan evaluation, the county has maintained the highest grade for two consecutive years, establishing itself as a model case among local governments nationwide.

Major achievements include: attracting the Chungnam Forest Resources Research Institute and Chungnam Provincial Park Golf Course; selection for senior welfare housing (127 units) and Chungnam-style public rental housing projects (362 units); establishing a virtuous cycle system for local food and settling the 'Food Plan'; launching high-quality rice 'Hyangjinju' and strengthening the 'Chilgabmaru' brand; and registering Cheongyang Goji Berry as a National Important Agricultural Heritage.

In the health and welfare sector, the county has established a customized integrated care system for the elderly, strengthened public healthcare functions at Cheongyang Public Medical Center, and built the Haengbok Nuri Center and Jeongsan Multipurpose Welfare Center, thereby establishing a rural welfare model. In the tourism sector, the county invested a total of KRW 114.5 billion in the Cheonjang, Janggok, and Chilgab districts to lay the foundation for an era of 5 million annual tourists.

Governor Kim Dongon stated, "Receiving the highest grade in the pledge implementation evaluation is the result of making our promises to residents the top priority of county administration and pursuing them unwaveringly," and added, "We will continue to faithfully fulfill the remaining pledges to create a better Cheongyang that continues to change and innovate."

Meanwhile, the county plans to further strengthen the substance of pledge implementation through ongoing meetings of the pledge implementation evaluation committee, on-site inspections, and transparent disclosure of progress, all while maintaining trust with residents.
