On May 16, Jeonnam Province announced that local young farmers operated the 'Young Farmers Market' direct transaction stall at Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch for 10 days until the 7th, captivating the tastes of Busan citizens, achieving sales of 190 million won, and laying the foundation for the regularization of the event.

This direct market was a project promoted by Jeonnam Province to support the expansion of sales channels and the establishment of a self-reliant foundation for young farmers. It served as an opportunity to widely promote Jeonnam's excellent agricultural and specialty products to consumers in Busan.

A total of 23 young farms participated in the direct market, operating 25 stalls. Representative products from various regions of Jeonnam, such as sweet potatoes, tomatoes, paprika, and yuzu kombucha, received enthusiastic responses and were sold out early.

In particular, Lotte Department Store highly evaluated the consumer response and the competitiveness of the young farmers' products at this event, and officially proposed to hold the event on a regular basis in the future.

Kang Hyeongu, CEO of Geocoop (Jeonnam Young Farmers Cooperative), expressed his gratitude, saying, "The interest and support from Jeonnam Province greatly helped us introduce our agricultural products to Busan citizens."

Jeonnam Province operates about 20 direct transaction markets in major cities each year, investing approximately 400 million won annually to support the expansion of distribution channels for young and small-scale farmers. Last year, about 500 farms and companies participated, achieving sales of 1.8 billion won.

Park Sangmi, head of the Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "This is a good example of young farmers in Jeonnam taking the lead in direct sales to urban consumers," and added, "We will continue to support systematic promotional events to establish a stable distribution base for young farmers and carry out various marketing activities to expand the consumption of local agricultural products."
