"Capturing Early Demand"... Emart Launches Major Cooling Appliance Event Ahead of Schedule

Prolonged Heatwave Expected Again This Year
Emart Air Conditioner Sales Up 20%, Traders Up 67%

With another prolonged heatwave forecasted for this year, Emart announced on May 16 that it will begin its largest cooling appliance event of the first half of the year earlier than usual.

Cooling appliance events typically begin in June, but the company decided to move up the schedule this year in response to increased demand from customers looking to prepare in advance, following last year's heatwave and the unseasonably warm autumn.

In fact, from the beginning of the year through May 14, air conditioner sales increased by 20% at Emart and by 67% at Traders. With the average air conditioner replacement cycle of 8 to 9 years coinciding this year, air conditioner sales are expected to continue growing through the summer.

From May 16 to 29, Emart and Traders will offer discounts on cooling appliances such as air conditioners and fans, along with a variety of gift certificate promotions and exclusive products.

The first 600 customers (500 at Emart, 100 at Traders) who purchase Samsung, LG, or Carrier air conditioners for 2 million won or more will receive a 50,000-won Emart offline exclusive gift certificate, Emarticon. In addition, all customers who purchase Samsung or LG air conditioners for 2 million won or more will receive a 50,000-won Shinsegae gift certificate.

The company has also expanded its credit card promotions. Customers who pay with Samsung Card will receive discounts on all Samsung and LG wall-mounted air conditioners, as well as up to 200,000 won in Shinsegae gift certificates. For purchases of air conditioners totaling 500,000 won or more with Emart e, Shinhan, Hyundai, Lotte, or Hana cards, a 10-month interest-free installment plan will be available.

Emart has also planned exclusive models of popular air conditioners such as the Samsung Wind-Free Gallery and LG Whisen View, offering them at affordable prices. These products are the result of Emart securing price competitiveness through advance bulk contracts with manufacturers. With integrated purchasing between Emart and Traders increasing supply, customers can expect even more reasonable prices.

Promotions for fans and circulators are also available. The Shinil BLDC remote control fan will be sold at 89,000 won, a 30,000-won discount off the regular price, and all Caf Polina portable and desktop fans will be offered at a 20% discount when Shinsegae points are earned. As a weekend special from May 16 to 18, the Clefa 3D Motion Air Circulator will be available at 59,000 won, a 50% discount off the regular price.

Three models of Electroman fans, Emart's private brand for electronics (standard, basic, and remote control types), will be available year-round at 34,800 won, 39,800 won, and 49,800 won, respectively, which is 15% to 25% less expensive than regular branded fans.

Cho Yonguk, Emart's home appliance buyer, stated, "With many customers looking to purchase air conditioners early this year, we are launching our large-scale cooling appliance event ahead of schedule. In response to consecutive heatwaves and the air conditioner replacement cycle, we will maximize price benefits through a wider variety of promotions than before."
