To Help Students Understand the Lesson
Teacher Spreads Jam and Butter on Herself During Class
Netizens Cheer: "Even AI Can't Replace Her"
A video showing an elementary school teacher spreading peanut butter and strawberry jam on herself during class has gone viral online in the United States. It has been reported that the teacher did this to help her students better understand the lesson.
Recently, the New York Post reported, "A video of American elementary school teacher Kaylee Sloan (28) conducting a writing class has garnered about 53 million views on the social networking service TikTok, drawing significant attention."

In the released video, she conducts a lesson on making sandwiches using strawberry jam and peanut butter. Previously, Sloan had assigned her students a writing task on how to make a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich. To show the students what mistakes they had made in their writing, she decided to make the sandwiches exactly according to the instructions they submitted.
First, Sloan said, "I will make the sandwich exactly as you wrote in your instructions," and prepared bread, peanut butter, and strawberry jam. She then asked, "The first thing is that we have bread, peanut butter, and strawberry jam. Should I just hold these three things?" The students replied, "No! That's not how you make it."
Next, while reading a student's instruction to "press the bread flat," she pressed the unopened packaged bread with her palm. Then, following another student's direction to "spread peanut butter and jam on the bread," she put her hand into the jar of strawberry jam and spread it directly onto the packaged bread. When she did the same with the peanut butter, the students screamed. One student exclaimed, "That's not how you make a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich!" However, Sloan replied, "I'm just following your instructions," and proceeded to rub peanut butter all over her arm. When Sloan asked the students, "Okay, are we done?" they answered, "Teacher, you're doing it wrong."

After hearing the students' responses, Sloan pointed out, "This is why we need to add details in our writing," and noted, "None of you mentioned plates, knives, or any tools." She used this method to teach how important it is to include 'specific details' when writing.
According to the New York Post, Sloan, who is in her fourth year of teaching, conducts this lesson every year. She explained to the media, "The point of the lesson is to explain things in detail through writing," adding, "Words are very important, and they can easily change the meaning of what we say. That's why I followed the students' instructions exactly as they wrote them."
The video of this lesson has become a sensation, recording about 53 million views. Viewers who watched the video left enthusiastic comments such as, "A teacher who cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI)," "A truly dedicated teacher," "She deserves double the salary," "The students will never forget this," "It's rare to see such a passionate teacher these days. I respect her," "It looks fun. Can she teach adults too?" and "Her idea is brilliant."
