Chungnam Province has reviewed the progress of the "Sea Embracing the Future, Blue Engine Chungnam" project, in which the province and its cities and counties are investing a total of 17 trillion won.

On May 15, the province held the "Chungnam Marine Fisheries Future Vision Implementation Province-City and County Workshop" at the National Marine Biodiversity Institute, with Vice Governor Jeon Hyungsik presiding. More than 50 participants attended, including representatives from the province, cities and counties, and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute.

The province plans to invest approximately 17.57 trillion won over the next 10 years, until 2035, to realize the vision of "Sea Embracing the Future, Blue Engine Chungnam."

The workshop proceeded in the following order: selection of 16 key tasks from the "2025-2035 Comprehensive Plan" established to foster marine industries such as marine tourism, bio, and energy; presentations and discussions on the progress of these tasks; and on-site policy visits.

Previously, in December last year, after announcing the Marine Fisheries Future Vision, the province established an implementation plan through communication with marine organizations, such as holding meetings, to enhance execution. This plan includes five major strategies, 28 key tasks, and 114 projects.

The five major strategies are: ▲Sea of Life: Creating a clean and healthy marine environment ▲Sea of Economy: Building a profitable marine living zone ▲Sea of Dynamism: Developing into a center for marine leisure and tourism ▲Sea of Innovation: Leading integrated marine fisheries technology projects ▲Sea of the Future: Revitalizing the regional economy through ports.

Vice Governor Jeon Hyungsik stated, "The Marine Fisheries Future Vision announced last year should not simply present a direction," and added, "The province and cities and counties must work together to create new growth engines from the sea so that residents can truly feel the impact."
