770 Triathletes in Jangheung Take on a Passionate Challenge to Push Beyond Their Limits

770 Athletes to Compete, Event to Boost Local Economy and Promote Sports

Jangheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Sung) will host the '2025 Jeongnamjin Jangheung National Triathlon' on May 17 at the Samsan Embankment area in Gwansan-eup.

According to the county on May 15, a total of 770 triathletes from across the country are expected to participate in this event, taking on a passionate challenge to push beyond their personal limits.

The event is organized and hosted by the Jangheung County Triathlon Association and will follow the international Olympic course standards, consisting of a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km cycle, and a 10 km run, testing the participants' endurance and physical strength.

Officials from Jangheung County and the Jangheung County Triathlon Association have completed the installation of banners for traffic control and detour guidance to minimize inconvenience for local residents and tourists. They also attended a village leaders' meeting to request cooperation from the local community for the smooth operation of the event.

Governor Kim Sung stated, "We will do our utmost in preparing for the event to promote Jangheung as a Nobel Literature city nationwide and to support local small business owners who are facing economic difficulties."

Meanwhile, county officials plan to install promotional and informational banners along a 3 km section of the embankment to provide a more convenient environment for participants and spectators, encourage local interest in sports, and use this as an opportunity to broaden the base for triathlon in the community.
