Hyungseok Kim of Kumho Tire Named Contributor on Automobile Day

Awarded the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation

Kumho Tire (CEO Jung Iltaek) was honored as a contributor to the development of the automobile industry on the occasion of the 22nd Automobile Day.

At the 'Automobile Day' event held on the 14th at the Grand Ballroom of JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, more than 250 industry officials, including Ahn Deokgeun, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, attended. During the event, 34 individuals were recognized for their contributions to the development of the automobile industry and received awards.

Hyungseok Kim, a senior researcher at Kumho Tire and the only recipient from the tire industry, received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy. As the head of Smart Tire System technology development, Kim is pioneering new markets in the mobility sector within the tire industry and contributing to the enhancement of autonomous vehicle performance.

The Smart Tire System uses sensor modules attached to the tires and a dedicated wireless communication device inside the vehicle to monitor air pressure, temperature, wear, and load in real time while driving. This enables not only tire information management but also the collection of vehicle and driving data, supporting the maintenance of optimal driving conditions.

Kim stated, "I am very pleased to have contributed to the development of the domestic automobile industry," adding, "Kumho Tire will continue to advance smart tire technology and strengthen our technological capabilities to lead the future mobility market."
