On May 15, Dongducheon City Facilities Management Corporation (Chairman Lee Jongjin) announced that Dongducheon Natural Recreation Forest was chosen as a base site for the project on May 12, having been evaluated as a suitable location for workation based on its accessibility from the Seoul metropolitan area and its pleasant natural environment.
This project, hosted by Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, aims to create environments where work and rest can coexist, in line with the new tourism trend of enabling people to work even while surrounded by nature.
Dongducheon Natural Recreation Forest was selected after being recognized as a suitable site for workation, thanks to its pleasant natural environment and excellent accessibility from the metropolitan area.
'Workation' is a new concept that combines work and vacation. It has recently become a new tourism trend as the demand for flexible work and healing experiences has increased. In response, Gyeonggi Province launched this contest to create environments where people can work smoothly even in nature.
The project will run from May to December this year. A total of four locations in the province, including Dongducheon, have been designated as base sites for workation. During the project period, Dongducheon City Facilities Management Corporation plans to establish shared offices and work-friendly spaces within the recreation forest, thereby creating a stay-type work environment that integrates tourism and work.
Chairman Lee Jongjin stated, "We will continue to develop various stay-type tourism contents based on public interest and creativity so that Dongducheon Natural Recreation Forest can become a leading workation destination in the metropolitan area."
