One Week Until the Music Festival
Kim Feel, Sohyang, and Hwang Garam to Perform
The unique music festival of Mokpo, the '2025 Mokpo Music Play,' will be held in grand style for three days from May 23 to 25 at the Mokpo Sports Complex and surrounding areas.
Mokpo City announced that the festival will feature a variety of performances, exhibitions, and hands-on events utilizing Mokpo's unique musical heritage, aiming to provide a festival experience that delights all five senses for visitors of all generations.
On the first day, May 23, the festival will kick off with performances by the lineup of 'Mokpo Song Grand Feast,' followed by an opening performance themed around Mokpo's pop music icons Lee Nanyoung and Kim Sisters, an LED touch performance, and the 'CROSS OVER Performance' featuring top Korean singers. Artists such as Nam Jin, Oh Junghae, Kim Feel, Sohyang, Hwang Garam, Second Moon, Crazeul, Juho, Yoon Suhyun, and Wink will take the stage, offering performances that everyone can enjoy regardless of age or gender.
On the second day, May 24, the finals of the original song music competition will take place. With a total prize pool of 11.5 million won, more than 50 teams applied and competed in a fierce online preliminary round, and 14 teams have advanced to the finals to perform on stage. The winning team will receive a cash prize as well as an opportunity to appear on the MBC YouTube channel 'K-Pop.' In addition, the day will feature a celebratory performance by the 2022 Music Play competition winning team.
Later in the evening, a spectacular K-Pop concert will take place. This event, which has garnered significant interest among young people, will feature popular artists such as BTOB, TripleS, ICHILLIN, ONEUS, Say My Name, SF9, Xikers, Badvillain, and Even, lighting up Saturday night.
On the final day, May 25, a dance battle competition will continue the festival's excitement. Talented dancers selected through online preliminaries will compete in one-on-one battles, and the two final winning teams will be awarded a total of 4 million won in prize money.
The last night will be highlighted by the 'Hip-Pop' performance, featuring top hip-hop musicians such as Zion.T, Giriboy, DinDin, Beomjin, Woody, ONEWE, and Jackpot, bringing the festival to a grand finale.
In addition, there will be a variety of other stages, including 'Local Artists Performance' featuring regional artists, 'The Street Singing Marble,' a street karaoke event where citizens can participate directly, and 'Music Play List,' a singer-songwriter request performance.
There will also be exhibition and experience spaces where visitors can see the flow of Mokpo music from Lee Nanyoung to the present day at a glance. Attractions such as the 'Mokpo Memory Archive,' 'Music Square,' 'Music Cafe Station,' and the 'Pop Music Short Video' 360-degree photo zone, which recreates popular music from different eras, are expected to draw visitors' attention.
Additionally, there will be a 'Food Zone' and 'Food Truck Zone' where visitors can enjoy the tastes of Mokpo, a 'Pop-up Store' and 'Flea Market' where various souvenirs can be purchased, made, or experienced, and a 'Healing Zone' equipped with beanbags and sunshades where anyone can relax.
A city official stated, "We are preparing a nationwide music festival based on Mokpo's unique music content," adding, "We will do our best to help Mokpo take a leap forward as a music city."
Meanwhile, most programs at the 2025 Mokpo Music Play can be enjoyed free of charge, and performances will be operated with assigned seating. Advance reservations have been available through Ticketlink since May 9, and on-site reservations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
