Suncheon City to Provide Up to 1 Million Won for Small Businesses Installing Smart Devices

On May 15, Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will officially launch the "2025 Digital Small Business Training for 10,000 Entrepreneurs" initiative to strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses and revitalize business operations in response to changes in the digital environment.

This program targets small business owners who introduce smart devices such as kiosks, smart order systems, unmanned vending machines, and waiting boards, providing support for 80% of installation costs, up to a maximum of 1 million won.

Eligible applicants are small business owners with annual sales of 1 billion won or less who operate businesses in Suncheon. A total of approximately 41 businesses will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. However, those who have been selected for similar programs within the past three years or who operate in industries excluded from policy funding are not eligible for support.

In particular, when installing a kiosk, businesses must install a "barrier-free kiosk" that matches the store's floor area in accordance with the revised "Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities," which took effect in January 2025. After installation, the device must be used for a mandatory period of two years. Failure to comply may result in the recovery of the subsidy.

Applications will be accepted until the budget is exhausted, either by visiting the Suncheon City Small Business One-Stop Support Center or by email. Required documents include an application form, business registration certificate, sales proof documents, and a product quotation. Selected applicants must complete device installation within 60 days of selection. A city official stated, "Through this support program, we will take active steps to enhance the digital capabilities of local small businesses and help establish a foundation for sustainable growth in a rapidly changing market environment," urging strong interest and participation.
