In a statement released that day, Kwon said, "More than 2,000 workers die from industrial accidents every year, meaning that six workers go to work each day and do not return home," and added, "For someone who claims to have been involved in the labor movement to disregard the lives and safety of workers is the behavior of a labor activist who has betrayed their cause."
Kwon stated, "Due to the endless back-and-forth between contractors and subcontractors, subcontracted workers have not even known who their real employer is, and therefore could not receive legal protection," and added, "Even when workers face wage arrears or industrial accidents, there is no one to hold accountable. The Yellow Envelope Act was created to prevent such situations. What exactly is unconstitutional about it?"
Kwon said, "What violates the Constitution is the People Power Party," and continued, "How can the People Power Party, which privatizes power and cannot even expel those convicted of insurrection for enacting unconstitutional martial law, claim any right to discuss the Constitution?"
Kwon is the candidate selected by the Presidential Election Solidarity for Social Transformation, which is composed of the Justice Party, Labor Party, Green Party, and civil society organizations. The Justice Party earned more than 3% of the proportional representation vote in the 2022 local elections, qualifying for participation in televised debates.
