Identifying 181 Projects Across Four Major Strategies
to Respond to Changing Disaster Environments
Chungnam Province has organized a meeting to finalize the 'Powerful Chungnam Safety Vision 2040' ahead of its official proclamation ceremony next month.
On May 15, the province held the first Safety Policy Working Coordination Committee in the main conference room of the provincial government office, presided over by Safety Planning Officer Jeong Nakdo. During the meeting, participants shared progress on establishing the safety vision and discussed practical implementation measures and inter-agency cooperation.
The Powerful Chungnam Safety Vision 2040 is designed to respond to changes in disaster environments caused by factors such as climate change. The plan includes 181 projects across four major strategies, with a total investment of 15.0595 trillion won.
The four major strategies are: ▲Creating a safe living environment through smart technology ▲Securing crisis response capabilities that function effectively on the ground ▲Establishing a practical disaster safety support system ▲Strengthening disaster resilience led by residents and fostering a culture of safety.
The province has identified 29 projects related to natural disasters, 79 related to social disasters, and 73 in the field of safety management.
Through these initiatives, Chungnam aims to achieve the following goals by 2040: ▲Reduce casualties and property damage by 30% ▲Improve the regional safety index by one to two grades ▲Increase residents' perceived safety by 20%.
Jeong Nakdo, Safety Planning Officer, said, "We will incorporate the feedback from today's meeting and officially announce the final vision next month. We will do our utmost to ensure Chungnam becomes a leading region in disaster safety nationwide."
