Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 15 that it had conducted a joint inspection and improvement campaign near Subuk Elementary School on the 12th to raise awareness of harmful environments for youth and to promote a culture of youth protection throughout the local community in celebration of Youth Month.

More than 20 representatives from related organizations participated in the campaign, including Subuk Elementary School, Subuk Police Box, Damyang County, Damyang Police Station, the Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, and the Damyang County Youth Counseling and Welfare Center.

The participants provided guidance to local businesses near the school regarding the prohibition on employing or allowing entry to youth, and visited alcohol and tobacco retailers to check whether signs prohibiting sales to youth were displayed. Stickers were distributed to businesses without such signs, and on-site guidance was also provided.

Seo Saenghyeon, head of the Damyang County Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, stated, "We will continue inspections and campaigns to improve harmful environments for youth and take the lead in protecting the youth of Damyang County."
