Gwangju City announced on May 15 that it recently held a meeting of the Hometown Love Donation Program Thank-You Gift Selection Committee and added 25 new customized thank-you gifts for donors.
With this addition, the number of thank-you gifts for Gwangju City's Hometown Love Donation Program has increased from 51 to 76 items. The newly designated gifts include processed foods, livestock products, and crafts, as well as "professional sports goods" for professional baseball and soccer fans, and the nation’s first lifestyle care service. These items combine both practicality and symbolic value.
Among the new gifts, the KIA Tigers uniform is offered exclusively to Gwangju Hometown Love donors at a 30% discount compared to the regular market price. In addition, a coupon for the official Gwangju FC online mall is also provided as a thank-you gift. The city expects that these offerings will encourage voluntary participation in the Hometown Love Donation Program by sports fans.
The lifestyle care service "Please Clean," introduced for the first time in Korea, is also drawing attention. This service sends a housekeeper to a location designated by the donor to clean refrigerators or bathrooms, providing a customized care service that goes beyond a simple gift to offer practical support for daily life. The service is operated directly by the Gwangju Social Service Institute (Ansim Care Center), ensuring reliability and quality, and is available to all Gwangju citizens regardless of income level.
The competitiveness of food-related thank-you gifts has also been strengthened, with Changuk Co., a renowned rice cake brand representing Gwangju, participating as a supplier. "Changuktteok" is the best-selling rice cake product on the online platform Market Kurly and has recorded high customer satisfaction.
The newly added thank-you gifts will be available to donors through the Hometown Love eum website starting May 22. The expansion of thank-you gifts is significant not only for increasing the number of items but also for providing donors with more opportunities to experience the culture and values of Gwangju.
Depending on their interests, donors can now choose not only food but also from cultural, sports, and service categories, which is expected to increase both satisfaction and participation rates. The city plans to continue actively discovering local resources to establish the Hometown Love Donation Program as a virtuous cycle model that revitalizes the local economy.
Park Yunwon, Director of the Autonomous Administration Division, said, "We will enhance donor satisfaction with differentiated thank-you gifts that reflect Gwangju’s unique characteristics," and added, "Through continuous monitoring and incorporating donor feedback, we will strive to make the Hometown Love Donation Program a leading system for regional coexistence."
