Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will implement the "Primary School Student Dental Home Doctor Program" until the end of November.
This program is a comprehensive, prevention-focused oral health management initiative. It is conducted in cooperation with public health centers, schools, and dental medical institutions, and targets fourth-grade elementary school students (including special schools) whose permanent teeth have fully erupted and who can benefit most from oral health management, as well as out-of-school youth aged 10, and undocumented migrant children born in 2015.
Participating children will receive free oral examinations, oral health education, and fluoride application. Depending on their oral condition, they may also receive free dental sealants, tartar removal, and panoramic (X-ray) imaging.
Children who wish to receive treatment must fill out a questionnaire and complete video education on the "Denti-i Gyeonggi" app, then make a reservation by phone with a participating dental medical institution. The list of participating institutions can be found on the "Denti-i Gyeonggi" app and through school notices.
For this program, the Bucheon City Public Health Center has collaborated with the Bucheon Dental Association and the Gyeonggi-do Bucheon Office of Education, and has signed contracts with 115 dental hospitals and clinics.
Kim Eunok, Director of the Bucheon City Public Health Center, stated, "We will actively support many students to participate in the Dental Home Doctor Program so that they can develop proper oral health habits from an early age." She also emphasized, "As this is a crucial period that forms the foundation for lifelong oral health, I ask guardians to take interest and actively participate in the program together with their children."
