Chae Jeongmook Appointed as Chairperson
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on May 15 that it held the '2025 First Cooperative Promotion Committee Meeting' at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
The Cooperative Promotion Committee has been operating since 2015 as an organization that identifies areas for institutional improvement for the development of cooperatives and discusses policy tasks such as measures to promote cooperatives.
Chae Jeongmook, President of the Korea Plastic Industry Cooperative Federation, was appointed as the chairperson, and a new committee of 18 members was formed to serve for the next two years.
At the meeting, major progress on institutional improvements to promote cooperatives was reported, including the expansion of permitted joint activities, the introduction of the right to request consultations, and the relaxation of establishment requirements. In addition, the committee discussed the implementation plan for the 4th Three-Year Plan (2025?2027) to promote SME cooperatives and shared opinions from the field.
Chairperson Chae stated, "To promote cooperatives, improvement tasks that can be felt in the field must be discussed," and added, "We will continue to hold active discussions in line with the committee's purpose of presenting directions for legal and institutional improvements for the growth and development of cooperatives."
