The 'Citizen Auditor System' is an external oversight mechanism that monitors and inspects the Office of Education's major projects and areas vulnerable to corruption from the perspective of outside experts, and proposes institutional improvements.

This year, a total of 30 citizen auditors will be active, including 12 newly appointed members and 18 previously appointed members. They consist of experts, professors, and members of civic organizations in six fields: facility construction, goods contracts, school meals, school sports teams, Neulbom School (after-school programs), and field trips.

They will participate in various audit tasks that require expertise and fairness, such as comprehensive audits, specific audits, and case investigations for the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education. They are also expected to engage in a range of activities to improve integrity, including grievance inspections, proactive administration monitoring, and recommendations for institutional improvement.

Kim Seokjun, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "The expertise and experience of citizen auditors have greatly contributed to enhancing trust in Busan's education," and added, "We will listen to the voices of citizen auditors, preemptively block factors that could lead to corruption, and realize fair educational administration."
