The Financial Supervisory Service will launch a practical finance course on the open lecture platform 'K-MOOC', which is operated by the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
On May 15, the Financial Supervisory Service announced that it will make the newly developed online course 'Practical Finance (4th Edition)' available to the public on 'K-MOOC', so that anyone, including young people, can conveniently take the course via the internet or smartphone.
The Financial Services Commission accepts course applications twice a year through the K-MOOC website and operates the course as a 15-week program. Participants who meet certain criteria will also receive a certificate of completion.
This year, course applications will be accepted starting from May 15, and the first round of lectures will be held for 15 weeks from May 26 to September 7. The second round of lectures will be held from November this year to February next year. The course covers topics such as savings, investment, insurance, pensions, loans, financial products, financial planning, and financial consumer protection, aiming to enhance overall understanding of financial life.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated, "We will ensure that anyone, including university students, young adults just entering society, and the general public, can learn the latest essential financial knowledge without time or location constraints." The agency added, "We hope that young people will be able to protect themselves from the side effects of financial misuse, such as 'Bittou' and 'Yeongkkeul', and develop the essential financial skills needed in modern society to become rational financial consumers."
