Selection results to be announced on June 16
On May 15, the city of Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, announced that it is publicly recruiting 28 organizations?including publishers, bookstores, and bookshops from across the country?to participate in the book market at the 8th Jeonju Book Festival, which will be held from September 5 to 7 at the Hanbyeok Cultural Center and surrounding areas.
Organizations operating the book market will offer a 10% discount on a variety of books so that everyone attending the festival can enjoy the event. The city plans to provide a subsidy of 350,000 won to participating organizations that choose to host optional programs such as reading experience events or small-scale author lectures. However, organizations that do not wish to operate additional programs may participate by selling books only, without receiving the subsidy.
The application period runs from May 16 to June 9. Organizations wishing to participate must download the application form from the Jeonju Book Festival website, complete it, and upload it along with required documents such as a business registration certificate. The city will conduct a document review of the applicants and announce the selected organizations on the festival website on June 16.
Choi Hyunchang, head of the city's Library Headquarters, stated, "I hope the Jeonju Book Festival will grow beyond being Jeonju's leading book culture festival to become a representative book culture festival for all of Korea, enriched by the interest and participation of publishers, bookstores, and bookshops nationwide."
