Intensive Safety Inspections at Five Major Large-Scale Distribution Facilities
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province is conducting safety inspections of large-scale stores in the region until May 23, 2025, as part of the 2025 Intensive Safety Inspection Period.
This inspection aims to proactively examine major distribution facilities closely related to citizens' daily lives and eliminate potential risk factors in advance to prevent large-scale accidents. The inspection is being carried out jointly by the public and private sectors, with the Regional Economy Division of Changwon Special City working together with the Safety Management Officer, as well as experts in fire safety, electricity, and facility management.
The main inspection schedule and targets are as follows: Lotte Department Store Changwon Branch on the 14th, Daedong Department Store on the 16th, Lotte Mart Masan Branch on the 19th, Emart Masan Branch on the 21st, and Homeplus Jinhae Branch on the 23rd, for a total of five locations.
In particular, this inspection will focus on recent safety accident cases, with special attention to the following: fire prevention through fire safety facilities (such as sprinklers, indoor fire hydrants, automatic fire detection systems, and fire compartments), electrical facilities (including outdoor lighting, wiring, circuit breakers, and distribution panels), and the structural stability of buildings and the overall management status of facilities.
Minor issues identified during the inspection will be corrected immediately on site, while cases requiring repair or reinforcement will be addressed through follow-up measures.
Lee Yujeong, Head of the Regional Economy Division, stated, "We plan to continue promoting various safety management activities in cooperation with the public and private sectors, including this intensive safety inspection." She also urged, "We ask citizens to actively report any risk factors they discover in their surroundings and to show great interest in the inspection process."
