DL Chemical Completes Construction of World's Largest Polyisoprene Plant in Singapore

'Synthetic Rubber' for Medical Use... Responding to Global Demand
Securing a Supply Base in Southeast Asia Following Brazil
"We Will Lead the Global Medical Materials Market"

DL Chemical has completed the construction of the world's largest polyisoprene latex plant in Singapore, thereby securing an additional global production base to target the premium synthetic rubber market for medical and hygiene applications.

DL Chemical's subsidiary, Carlyplex, recently completed the construction of a polyisoprene latex plant on Jurong Island, Singapore, and held a completion ceremony locally on the 14th, according to an announcement on the 15th. Key figures attended the event, including Jonghyun Kim, Vice Chairman of DL Chemical; Sangwoo Ryu, CEO of Carlyplex; Tan See Leng, Singapore Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry; and Jinwook Hong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Singapore. The plant covers a total area of 61,000 square meters and is Carlyplex's second major production base, following its facility in Brazil.

The new plant is located near customers in Singapore, providing advantages in both efficiency and speed of product supply. Synergy effects are also expected with the existing research facility in Malaysia. Construction was completed in October of the previous year, and this ceremony served as the official external announcement. Carlyplex has implemented an eco-friendly production system called 'Direct Connect' at this plant, which reduces carbon emissions compared to previous methods. By eliminating raw material transportation and reprocessing steps and directly connecting processes, production efficiency has been maximized.

Carlyplex is a subsidiary acquired by DL Chemical in 2020 for approximately 620 billion KRW. The company originated as a medical synthetic rubber division that was spun off from DL and later reacquired. Carlyplex possesses the world’s only anionic catalyst-based synthetic rubber and latex technology. It holds the top market share in the polyisoprene synthetic rubber market for surgical gloves.

The company's products are characterized by low impurities and high transparency, resulting in minimal skin irritation. They are highly regarded as advanced materials for hygiene and medical applications, such as surgical gloves and injection vial stoppers. Carlyplex expects steady growth in demand, as its products meet the stringent standards of the medical materials market.

A DL Chemical representative stated, "Singapore is strategically positioned as a logistics and financial hub, and its proximity to major customers makes it a key location. Through the completion of this new plant, we will be able to supply high-quality materials stably and further strengthen our leadership in the global market."
