Donating Educational Supplies to Support Hangeul Education Worldwide
In Celebration of 'King Sejong's Birthday'
Teaching Tools, Elementary School Textbooks, and Numerous School Supplies
Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University announced on May 15 that, in celebration of 'King Sejong's Birthday,' he and actor Kim Namgil donated educational supplies to the Hangeul Learning Center in Budapest, Hungary.
On Facebook that day, Professor Seo explained, "King Sejong's Birthday was designated as a national legal commemorative day last year to honor King Sejong's achievements and to enhance national pride as a cultural nation."
This is already the third time educational supplies have been donated. Professor Seo stated, "Starting with the first donation to the 'Gruteogi Hangeul School' in New York, USA last year, followed by the 'Can Namsadang Hangeul Culture School' in Vancouver, Canada, this is now the third donation."
He added, "The global Hangeul education support campaign involves donating educational materials to weekend schools that are dedicated to Hangeul education around the world, as well as to foreigners who run study groups to learn Korean."
He recently returned after donating a variety of teaching tools, such as a smart TV and a laptop, as well as elementary school textbooks and numerous school supplies to the Hangeul Learning Center in Budapest. He said, "As K-pop and K-dramas have spread widely, more foreigners and overseas Koreans wish to learn Hangeul and the Korean language, and I wanted to be of some help to their education, even if just a little."
He also emphasized, "We will continue to seek out and steadily support organizations that are dedicated to Hangeul education in various places."
